Statement of Intent:

The more we ‘see’ the interconnectedness of all things, the ‘oneness’ of all things, the less we, and the world, suffer.

If Art could help us ‘see’ the interconnectedness of all things, the ‘oneness’ of all things, what would it look like?

Prompt 2

‘This prompt is focused on the materials (both fiscal and intellectual) we use in making, and establishing the foundations of your practice here at Emily Carr.

Prompt 2 continued

‘Start by committing for two weeks to a daily making practice with a material that is relatively new to you. Remember that you are free to understand material broadly. You can choose something very tangible like clay or something less physical, such as the content of a database. It is important that you can work with this material at home or in the studio. Let attraction be your guide and keep it simple. While the material can sit well within your discipline, it is suggested that it be something you are not particularly familiar with. This choice can also be driven by a skill you want to develop or a practice you intend to pursue.’

For a new daily practice I chose to investigate digital animation, using Blender as software. Although I have 3d modeled, I have never had the chance to explore animation software. I chose Blender because it seems widely used and is free.

‘In the second week of your daily practice realize an outcome on the theme of “origins”*. ‘

The following are three studies that attempt to answer the second part of prompt 2, realize an outcome. The first is a poem, followed by a montage and finally a video.
