Prompt 1 | Gift
Making a gift for a studio-mate.
Stephanie and I were paired together for the completion of this prompt.
After talking to Stephanie, I realized how important it is to have someone who will listen. We talked about stress and knowing when one is carrying too much. Therefore, I wanted to make something that could symbolize to her that it is okay to stop and talk about what has been a burden in the last year, week, day, hour… The second part of the gift, the note-holder part, also came from our conversation. Both of us are note-takers and utilized this method to record our conversation.
For the form, I decided to represent the listener by exaggerating the ears of the little character. I also did not want to represent an animal directly in case Stephanie strongly disliked or feared a certain animal. By adding the face, I hope to make the little statue/character more playful, to take some of the stress away as well.
